VS2010 english on a windows 7 spanish (all last updates) I've already done the uninstall, devenv /setup, and re-install with no success. thanks in advance for your valuable help. |

I've just tried this in a Spanish virtual machine and it is working okay for me, so I don't think this is a Spanish language issue. Here are some things to check: * Which edition of VS2010 is it? We don't work in Visual Studio Express (a Microsoft restriction, not a LightSpeed issue). * If you look in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\CSharp\Data, do you see a folder named LightSpeedModel.zip? * Just as a sanity check, you are looking at item templates, not project templates, right? Just making sure because this did catch out one user in the past. * It's possible the LightSpeed package may have been disabled due to an earlier error. Run devenv /resetskippkgs to try to re-enable it. * Run devenv /log and check the activity log in %APPDATA%\Roaming\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\ActivityLog.xml (do an Open With > Internet Explorer to get a more readable display). Do you see any package load failures? |

first of all, thanks for your valuable support! you show me what "fanatical support" means. my answers: Versions: Microsoft visual studio 2010 Professional (spanish) I uninstalled the english version and installed the spanish one. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (spanish) LightSpeedModel.zip is located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\CSharp\Data all others .zip files are located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\CSharp\Data\3082 cant find any package load failures on ActivityLog.xml if I click on help->about microsoft visual studio I can see:

let me explain better: LightSpeedModel.zip FOLDER is located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\VisualBasic\Data AND C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\CSharp\Data
LightSpeedModel.zip FILE is located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\CSharp\Data AND C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\VisualBasic\Data
THANKS! |

Could you just clarify for me: you originally said you were using VS2010 English on Win7 Spanish (and this was the configuration I tested), but it now sounds like you are using VS2010 Spanish on Win7 Spanish. Is that correct? We had an issue (now fixed) with non-English versions of VS2008; it's possible it's come back in VS2010. If you can confirm that the issue is with Spanish VS2010 then I can take another look into it. As a workaround, you could try copying the zip file (not folder) to the 3082 directory and running devenv /installvstemplates. |

I'm now using VS2010 spanish on Win7 Spanish Copying the zip files (VB and C#) to the 3082 directory, and "devenv /installvstemplates" didn't solve the problem. I'll reboot now crossing my fingers. thanks for your help

Hmm, I'm stumped I'm afraid. I've downloaded and installed VS2010 Spanish on my Win7 Spanish VPC, and I'm not seeing any problems. If you add an existing model to your project, can you open it using the designer? This will help tell whether it's a package issue or just missing templates. Did you have any luck with devenv /ResetSkipPkgs by the way? |
|
|
I can open without any problems a sample model from explorer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mindscape\LightSpeed\Samples\FilmFestival - ASP.NET MVC\Model\Model.lsmodel . once openned I can modify it using the designer No luck with devenv /ResetSkipPkgs Keep in mind that I'm using windows 7 x64, so I have a C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE I dont think your VPC is x64. If you need you can connect to my computer (teamviewer, remote desktop, or whatever). Just contact me to setup an appointment. thanks for your help.

I don't think it's a x86/x64 issue. Visual Studio is a 32-bit app and all the relevant bits live in Program Files (x86). The package is clearly installed okay (because you can open existing lsmodel files) so it's just an issue of the templates not appearing in the Add Item dialog. Given timezones, before we resort to remoting into your machine, could you provide us with the following screenshots (you can attach a zip file via the Options tab) please: 1. Contents of C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\{your_lang}\Data folder (where {your_lang} is CSharp or VisualBasic depending on which language you are using for your project) 2. Contents of C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\{your_lang}\Data\LightSpeedModel.zip folder 3. Contents of C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\{your_lang}\Data\3082 folder 4. Visual Studio Add > New Item dialog, with the Data/Datos tab selected on the left hand side (and resized vertically if necessary so that there is no scrolling in the list, as per attached file). Thanks! |

Ivan, First of all, congratulations for your TechEd NZ 2010 talks. I'm watching all your videos, the more I watch, the more I like! My problem finally seems solved by now. My error was saving the demo projects on a shared network folder (a Not Trusted windows 2008). I did a Thanks for your help!
